Wormwood is native to Europe, Asia and South Africa. It is the primary ingredient in the famous liquor known as Absinthe. This aromatic herb contains a psychoactive chemical known as thujone. The true effects of the chemical are mysterious and quite misunderstood. Many poets, writers and musicians throughout history have praised Absinthe and especially the wormwood component for its amazing ally to creativity, but due to the odd behavior of some creative minds of the past wormwood earned a governmental reputation of being toxic and quite dangerous in larger doses; so in many locations the quantity of wormwood used in Absinthe is regulated by the government. Wormwood makes an absolutely amazing tea as well. The psychoactive effects can be quite noticeable using this method of ingestion. Wormwood tea also offers a great deal of benefits including being a remedy for gastric pain and indigestion, an antiseptic and an aid for common pain such as headache.
