Polygonum multiflorum "Fo-ti" Organic Well-Established Plant
These are organically grown on our USA farm with great care and respect; this one truly desrves it!
Traditional & Modern Use:
From the ancient system of Chinese Medicine comes this wonderful plant. P. multiflorum is a trailing to vining plantwith long racemes of delicate white flowers. It makes a nice hanging basket specimen. It is native to Asia where it is employed as a Chi tonic similar to Ginseng. The common name He Shou Wu refers to an old fable about Mr. Wu who was old and very weak. While in the forest one day he found himself without food and so dug the roots of a nearby vine. After sustaining himself for several days on these roots he was able to return home with renewed vigor. In time his hair became black again and he was soon able to father another child. He and his new son both were said to have lived to 130 years. He Shou Wu roughly translates to mean: Mr. Wu has black hair. This is a very rewarding plant to grow and would suit any Medicinal plant collection. It is a very fast and aggressive grower and could easily become invasive in warmer climates. Here in zone 7 it dies back to the roots every Winter and can still reach the top of a 30 ft tall tree in a single Summer, blooming through Fall.
