Phaleria clerodendron "Scented Daphne" Organic Well-Established Plant
Phaleria clerodendron
These are well-established and organically grown. We offer them at 7-12" size.
P. clerodendron is in the Thymelaeaceae family and hails from the rain forests of Queensland, Australia. It is a shrub to small tree from 10 to 20 feet tall with a spread about half as wide. The plant bears large (16")dark green, glossy leaves. Throughout the year the plants are literally loaded down with clusters of highly fragrant, trumpet-shaped, white flowers. The flowers are borne from the trunk and stems in large masses. These blooms are intensely fragrant with a very pleasingly sweet smell with a hint of pineapple. The scent carries for great distances and is positively intoxicating! The flowers are followed by highly ornamental, bright red berries hence the common name "Rosy Apple". Being a rain forest understory plant this species is very tolerant of shade. It is amenable to container culture and can even be grown as a houseplant successfully.
