Marshmallow has been used medicinally for centuries throughout Europe mostly. In Germany and Greece but quickly spread to Arabia and India and is now now a staple in Chinese medicine. it is commonly used in treating dry coughs, brochitis, asthma, cystitis, hernia and inflammation of the gastric mucosa. Marshmallow can also be used topically to treat insect bites, mastitis, boils and gangrene.
