This 4-10ft shrub is loaded with purple-rose flowers that flourish during July-October – often so many of these flowers that they bend the branches!
Historical Information:
The flowers of L. bicolor produce a very tasty, rich honey and the leaves are often used in cooking. The leaves of this plant also make another excellent admixture for the Ayahuasca brew of South and Central America. It contains the primary chemical (the same as in Psychotria viridis and Mimosa hostilis) that accompanies the equally B. caapi for its visionary and divinatory element.
