In summer months it blooms masses of dense white pinacle flowers that are held in large pinacles at the branch tips. The beautifully fragrant scent of the Mululu tree can literally be smelled for miles!
Traditional & Modern Use:
A. nyasica is most commonly recognized for its strong bright reddish, brown wood that is one of the largest exports of Uganda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The natives have used the trunks of this tree for dugout canoes. Medicinally, the bark has been used by the natives to treat cold and flu symptoms. They also have used the seed oil by rubbing it on the hair and skin to kill lice and other parasites; there is much documentation this and more studies should be done to determine the potential of this oil as an organic pesticide.
