Detailed Plant Description:
The Albizia julibrissin is a tree growing heights of 5 meters to 12 meters tall. It has a large crown and arching branches. The bark is green/gray and the mature trees are often striped vertically. The white and pink summer flowers do not contain petals but instead tight clusters of 2-3cm stamens. The powerfully aromatic flowers are very attractive to bees, butterlies and hummingbirds. The leaves are large and can be long as 45cm and 25cm wide. They are divided into 6-12 pairs of pinnae each containing each with 20-30 leaflets.
Plant Care:
Grow outdoors from seedling in zones 6 and higher. For zones 5 or lower grow in pots indoors until matured for 1 year. The extreme cold may damage or kill small Albizia but once matured they can handle very cold temperatures, making this an easy tree to maintain.
